How long have you been making music?
Ni igihe cyingana iki ukora umuziki?
Urebye umuziki ntago nkumaze imyaka myinshi ntangiye kuwiga haciyemo imyaka ibiri n’igice nkwiga ariko ntawukunze kera nshaka nokumenya kuwiga kugeza nubu nda cyawiga.
It hasn’t been a long time that I’ve been studying music, maybe 2 ½ years. But when I was younger I wanted to learn to make music and I really liked it. I’m still studying at this time.
Which producers are your favorite and whose work do you admire?
Ni abahe baproducer ukunda kandi wigiyeho?
Uwambere ni Ray-P, uwa kabiri ni Davy Denko. Kubera ko Ray-P akora indirimbo nkabasha kugira icyo namwigiraho mumikorere yanjye yu muzikinaho Denko akora indirimbo nkumva ndayikunze nawe urebye mukaraho. Kubera ko zirimo ubumenyi harimo ubuhanga n’impano kandi zigakundwa nabantu benshi.
The first one is Ray-P. The second is Davy Denko. Ray-P produces inspiring songs that teach me a lot in my own work. And for Denko, I love the songs he produces because in those songs there is knowledge. If you listen carefully there is real talent there, That’s why those songs are loved by the people.
What is your favorite style of music to produce?
Nububwoko bwimuziki utunganya?
Numva nakora Hip-Hop na R&B byiza cyane. Impavu nakora Hip-Hop nuko niyo style nkunda, ariko iyo umuntu akora umuziki akora muri style zose kugira ngo abantu bakugane bitewe n’imikorere yawe. Kuruhande rwanjye nkunda Hi-Hop kubera ko Hip-Hop ivuga kubuzima bwose.
I feel like I can produce great Hip-Hop and R&B. The reason I’m producing these styles is because those are the styles I love the most. But when a person is producing music, he produces all styles so that the artists will come for that. For me though, I love Hip-Hop, because Hip-Hop expresses the whole life.

When did you decide to be a producer?

Nigihe narintangiye kumva nkanasesengura ibiri mundirimbo z’abahanzi batadukanye. Noneho bigeze aho ngira amahirwe yo kubonana na mucutiwange Vicky, anyigsha gucuranga guitar, kuko nange nabikundaga. Numvaga nziga ibintu bijyanye na “music”, mubonye ambera “best friend” biranyura impanto iba iranzamute.
It’s when I started listening really carefully to music from many singers, and trying to understand it. As time went on, I got the chance to meet my friend Vicky, and she started teaching me to play guitar because I really liked it. I felt like I needed to learn all about music. When I met her it was really great and the beginning of developing my talents.
What’s your favorite style of music to listen to?

Nkunda R&B. Cyane cyane nkakunda Bruno Mars. Nko kundirimboye yitwa “When I Was Your Man.” Piano irimo irnyinjira nkumva, harukunta impinduye cyane. Noneho iyo wongeyeho “Only You” ya Vicky yakoreye muri Ray Music, iranyinjira ukuntu. Ariko, Afrobeat nayo ijya ikunda kupfata cyane iyo numvise uko icuranzwe.
I like R&B. I really, really like Bruno Mars, like his song called “When I Was Your Man”. The piano on that track really touches and inspires me. And when I hear the song “Only You” by Vicky from Ray Music, it really motivates me also. But I also enjoy Afrobeat and the way that style is played.
What kind of music are you producing at GMC Right Productions?
Afrobeat niyo nagergaje gukora. Kandi nfizu nogukora Hip-Hop kuko irigutera imbere. R&B yo mporana "ideas" yayo.
I’ve been making a lot of Afrobeat these days. I would like to produce Hip-Hop songs also because that style is growing in our country. Everyday, I also have new ideas for R&B.

What is going on at GMC Pro?
Niki kibera kuri GMC Pro?
Muri make GMC ni studio yatanjyijwe, Nabana bo mukigo cy’ipfubyi cyo kwa Gisimba babifashijwemo naba “volunteers”. Muri make dukora video hamwe na record tukanigisha abana gucuranga piano, guitar, nibijyanye na production. Muri studio kandi tunafitemo n’isomero ririmo ibitabo by’abana.
Briefly, GMC is a studio that was started by the kids at Gisimba Orphanage with help form volunteers. We do audio and video production, practice piano and guitar, and other things related to production. In the studio with also have a library with books of all kinds.

Simavuga ko arikera cyane ariko urabizi ko abashyitsi bazaga kudusura murugo nkaba uwambere mukubaririmbira uturirimbo twikaze. Nyuma yaho jyeze muri Secondaire myegereje bamwe mubana bari inshuti zajye mbasaba kotwakora group y’umuziki kuko nabonaga nabo bawukunze. Group twarayikoze yitwa “One Blood” twakoze indirimbo imwe kubera ikibazo cy’ubushobozi. Ariko murimake byaranshimishije kuba narabonye studio murugo ubunicyo gihe cyo gukora umuziki murwego rwo kugaragaza impano zacu.
I can’t say it’s been too long, but you know, sometimes we had visitors and I was the first to welcome them, to sing for them and dance for them. Then when I got to secondary school, I found my friends and suggested we make a group because I saw that they were also interested in music. We put together a crew called “One Blood”, and we recorded one song because we didn’t have the funds to do more. But I am happy because now we’ve got a studio here at home. This is my time to work hard and show everyone our talents.
What is the future of GMC Pro?

Ikindi dushaka nukwigisha barumuna bacu na bashiki bacu kugira ngo bizahoreho tujye dusimburana muri production kugirango tubarememo “responsibility” no kubiha agaciro. Ikindi nugukora izina ryacu rikajyera ahantu hashimishije mu Rwanda ndetse no hanze yarwo.
Our first goal is to raise awareness about the talents of our kids here at GMC. Also, we want to teach our younger sisters and brothers these skills so that the studio can be here a long time, and everyone can be a part of it. We want to build a sense of responsibility for the space and a value for the work done here. We are going to work hard to build up our name, here in Rwanda and outside.
